Description

On 1 and 2 October 2026, the European SIMIACCI project consortium (Sustainable Intelligent Management of Indoor Air Quality for the Culture and Creative Industries) met in Copenhagen, Denmark. The two-day meeting brought together partners from several European countries to review progress, exchange expertise and agree on the next stages of the project.

The National Coach Museum (Museu Nacional dos Coches), where the project is being carried out, was represented by Nuno Augusto, Head of the Museum's Conservation, Restoration and Collections Storage Department, and Luciano Rafael, from the Funding Office of Museus e Monumentos de Portugal, E.P.E., whose responsibilities include the management and monitoring of strategic projects.

The meeting was hosted by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) on the first day and the Royal Danish Library on the second, providing valuable opportunities for collaboration and for assessing the progress made since the consortium's previous meeting.

On the first day, project partners presented updates on the various work packages, reviewed recent findings and discussed activities planned for the coming months. The programme also included participation in a meeting of IEA EBC Annex 92, which brought together international experts to discuss recent developments in indoor air quality, an area of particular relevance to museums, libraries, galleries and other heritage institutions.

Participants also visited DTU's laboratories, gaining first-hand insight into the research facilities and methodologies supporting the development of innovative approaches to cultural heritage conservation.

The second day took place at the Royal Danish Library, where discussions focused on the involvement of GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) partners, as well as plans for forthcoming exhibitions, dissemination activities and strategies for promoting and disseminating the project's results.

Beyond the technical discussions, the meeting reaffirmed the importance of international cooperation, mutual trust and knowledge exchange as essential foundations for the successful delivery of European collaborative projects.
