Property of the family Alves Ferreira Montalvão, Chaves, Outeiro-Seco. In 1901 this vehicle, break type, was imported from France and shipped as an agricultural tool by the port of Figueira da Foz.

Description

The single-cylinder gasoline engine has the power 6 1/2 hp, displacement 900 cm3, and is water-cooled. The gearbox has 3 forward and one reverse gears. It has foot and hand brakes, wheels with metal rims, rubber tires and wax candles to illuminate. It was the first car to make the trip by road from Porto to Chaves. It was said that it was the devil who was coming there because it walked around without being pulled by mules. It reached a maximum speed of 50/60 km per hour.
